WELCOME TO TEXAS VFW DISTRICT 4

No One Does More for VETS
As yesterday's defenders of freedom, we want to welcome today's military service members into our ranks to become part of our elite group. Our common bond is the battlefield, whether it is service in the Persian Gulf, Korea, Kosovo, the war on terrorism or peace-keeping expeditionary campaigns. Your courage and sacrifice have made a difference in preserving and defending world peace.

Commander's Corner

Commander Thomas Booth

First, let me thank you — not just for being here, but for showing up every day with dedication, resilience, and belief in what the VFW stands for.  I know this past year hasn’t been easy. We’ve navigated tough new reporting systems, shifting priorities, and the kind of uncertainty that tests every team, every leader, and every company.

And yet — here we are. Still standing. Still moving forward.

I want to be clear with you today: We are not here just to survive another year. We’re here to grow, to adapt, and to win — together.

Let’s talk about what’s ahead.

Over the next year, we are going to be laser-focused on three things:

  1. Programs — That means, doing Voice of Democracy, Patriots Pen, Teacher of the Year.  VPR’s, and to keep asking: "What truly moves the needle?”
  2. Elevating our Community Impact — Our community is counting on us to assist with Homeless Veterans, reaching out to Veterans with needs, helping get the Veteran or their family member the resources they need. We need to get information out, listen harder, and move faster — not recklessly, but with purpose.  We are the Pillar of Support.
  3. Investing in our Membership— That’s you, and the Auxiliary.  We’re strengthening leadership at every level, through training, improving internal communication, and creating more opportunities for growth.

Now, I won’t sugarcoat it — there will be some hard decisions. But here’s the truth: we’ve faced pressure before, and we’ve come out stronger. What gives me confidence is not the plan on paper — it’s the people in this District. Your creativity, your grit, your collaboration — that’s our engine.

So here’s my ask: Let’s lean in. Let’s hold each other to a high standard. Let’s keep the energy up, stay focused on solutions, and keep pushing forward.  If you need help with something, if you're stuck, if you can't find where or how to accomplish a specific VFW task, reach out to your District leadership for help. We are here to help you succeed.

This year won’t be about luck. It will be about effort, alignment, and execution.

Let’s make it count.
